A new series on what has my attention:
After an unintentional hiatus, I am back!! I wanted to create a bite-size series of all the things that have my attention now. I want to keep the girls well-rounded…let’s get to it.
FASHION:
My favorite purchase this year has to be the Madewell Handwoven Leather Tote. I was heavily influenced by the queen herself, Courtney. When I tell you I take this bag everywhere, I’m not kidding. It fits so much stuff, and it’s the color of the fall season—brown. If you are looking for a designer bag but don’t want to break the bank, run, don’t walk.
BEAUTY:
I’ve been a Day One Summer Fridays fan, and in July, it was reported that the brand had secured investment from TSG Consumer Partners—founders Marianna and Lauren are headed to billionaire status. Summer Fridays is one of the most successful beauty brands on the market. Read more on WWD.
ENTERTAINMENT:
Zoë Kravitz made her directorial debut with the much-anticipated movie Blink Twice, starring her fiancé, Channing Tatum. This psychological thriller is a 10/10 and even gave the audience a very generous trigger warning at the film's beginning. This is what I feel like Don’t Worry Darling wishes it was. It is as if Get Out and Knives Out had a baby.
Calling all One Tree Hill Fans, our time has come!!! It has been announced that the drama queens themselves, Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, are reprising their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer in an OTH sequel. No word on the rest of the cast. Check out the Variety article about it.
Sabrina Carpenter has all the girlies in a chokehold with her new album. It’s witty, fun, and sexy. Bed Chem, Good Gracies, and Taste are on repeat!
SPORTS:
The US Open is in full swing, and the Americans are holding down the fort, and I am not mad at it.
College Football is back, and I couldn’t be happier. As an Alabama Alum, I am a die-hard Bama fan, and we are officially in a new era, the DeBoer era! Texas Longhorns are officially in the SEC, and I will only be watching to catch Glen Powell on the sidelines—ikykk.
BOOKS:
I am currently reading The Wedding People by Alison Espach. It has a 4.3 rating on Good Reads. I was told that this book is for you if you are struggling to find what's next in life!
CURRENT EVENTS:
The first presidential debate is on September 10th on ABC, moderated by Linsey Davis and David Muir. Surprisingly, this will be the first time Trump and VP Harris have even been on stage together. What I need to see: Can Trump stay disciplined and on message? Will Kamala have another “I’m Speaking” moment? Will both candidates make their case for the American people? Tbd…
WOMEN FOUNDER SPOTLIGHT:
Mandana Dayani is the co-founder of the nonpartisan organization; I am a voter dedicated to changing the culture of voting and civic engagement. Her voice is so important with this year’s election coming up in two months. As an Iranian-American immigrant, Mandana has made many career pivots from a big law Attorney at Paul Hastings LLC to an agent at CAA to head of Rachel Zoe Inc. to working in tech to becoming the President of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation. Now, she is lending her voice to fight against anti-semitism. As a proud Jewish woman, Mandana has used her activism to shine a light and awareness to help with the release of hostages being held by Hamas by visiting the White House frequently and talking to this administration and lawmakers on Capitol Hill. You can find Mandana’s work on Instagram and cable news shows like MSNBC’s Morning Joe. For extra credit, please take a listen to this podcast that I listen to at least three times a year lol. Mandana is one of my heroes, and her career journey has been beyond inspiring.
XX,
Lindsey
